Obscurest Vinyl (parody music)

Originally published as a book, titled "The Greatest Records You've Never Heard: The Obscurest Vinyl Collection" in 2021, Obscurest Vinyl is the project of writer Glenn David Robinson making use of AI-generated music to bring additional life to his satirical creations. Robinson has stated in an AMA on Reddit that he generates them using Suno, but writes the lyrics and splices the results to sound more complete, sometimes adding his own instrumentation.

The generated tracks use "realistic" sounding performers, along with period-accurate sleeve designs with added patina. In the AMA, Robinson stated that all the cover art was made entirely in Photoshop based on real materials, and not generative tech. Many of the songs are explicit and feature a long-list of curse words and euphemisms and imitate various music styles from brill-building pop, traditional country, disco, big band and vocal pop. Despite Suno having a profanity filter, Robinson refrains from explaining how exactly he's evaded it for fear of the company "patching" it out.
